24 years, 6 months and 18 days (collectively 6 years of this time I spent in the 'hole'), and on April 6, 2002, I walked out of one the 137 U.S. Bureau of Prisons dungeons and I haven't turned back. . .And the transition, has been hard on all facets, particularly emotionally, psychologically as well spiritually. However, while in, I refused to lose my freedom, nor surrender my dignity or my integrity. I knew my freedom was between my ears, my dignity and integrity laid in my heart; but I also knew they were the easiest of all to surrender. Moreover, once surrendered, you can never ever again regain them back intact! A piece of it is gone, is gone forever, no matter how hard you try. There were indeed times, while in the hole in prison when it was cold, so cold the pipes would freeze and the toilet would not flush because of the ice in it, and the hacks (guards) would rush in and beat you unconscious for asking for an extra blanket. Alternatively, as a retaliatory act for complaining they would "forget" to bring you food or water for days. Then, there was the man in the cell next to you. He would cry for hours pleading for a doctor who never came, and he died of an appendix rupture. It was times like these and thousands other endless days and empty nights it was hard to hold on, even to yourself and sanity. I would draw straight in the realization that my freedom of thought, my dignity and integrity were all I had to keep me warm, feed my heart and nourish my soul, that and that alone was to keep me safe . . .and I made it. Contrary to the basic laws of physics, 'time' is heaviest when empty, it is a weight, which can crush the soul; and the heart all the while the flesh screams out to be touched and soothed from the burning pain of loneliness, and the heart bleeds to be warm. It is for this reason I did what I did, I smuggled a woman into a federal penitentiary and have written a book about it titled: "WEEKEND WITH RITA." The book is doing well, and is in six different countries besides the United States. In addition to "WEEKEND WITH RITA" I am working on my second book titled: "THIEVES IN THE CHOIR" about how the C.I.A., used college students to spy domestically; and with the recent declassification of top secret information it has given enormous support for my book.
In the last five years, the stigma of prison and the social reflection of my past among other things have caused the loss of a wife and brought me another woman whom loves me unconditionally and totally, and I her. I have a new life, with an infant son. I have a home, a published book, looking for a movie and a future as far as I can ‘imagine.’ I am 'living' through life, not just moving through it. I have learned a candle which burns twice as bright only burns half as long.
Who I'd like to meet: I would like to meet anyone whom has left the "Justice" system and walked out of one of Americas' Gulags. I would like to provide advice and let them know the system is designed to destroy them not help them and not to let it, have faith in themselves. I would like to meet anyone who has read my book, because I would really appreciate and enjoy his or her feedback, good, bad, and indifferent.

The person who does not give up. The person who does not pre-judge the quality of a person, 'good or bad' by the color of their skin, the length of their hair, the clothes they wear or their social ecumenical class they come from, but rather reserve their opinion / judgment by how the person treat others. The person who respects another living entity whom he or she believes 'that' entity whether it be a person, a dog, a plant even a bug on the sidewalk can cause them no harm, and yet treats them with respect and dignity. When the alarm clock goes off at 5 a.m., an hour earlier than necessary, the person gets up out of bed when they are so dog tired from working all week long, to fix breakfast for their family and get them ready for the day and then, goes to work and gives 100 percent and, comes home dead on their feet, and sick to their stomach from exhausted and yet, when their child asked to play with them, or help with their homework, my hero does.
